Book Number 1: EMDR: The Breakthrough
Therapy for Overcoming Anxiety, Stress and Trauma.
I highly recommend book number 1 because Dr. Shapiro gives a number of cases where EMDR
therapy has been employed for many different situations. It is an excellent book for the
general public who has heard about EMDR because it
is written in language that does not require technical knowledge of the theory or of
psychotherapy. If you know someone who is suffering from emotional pain or past events and
incidents this is a great book to recommend.
Book Number 2: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reporcessing
is the book all professionals who are
trained in EMDR techniques ought to possess in their professional libraries. The book goes
through the assessment and meetins with the client before working with EMDR as well as a
number of important situations where other options are introduced such as a cognitive
interweave. I would not recommend this book for the general public because it is very
professional; thus has much material that uses the terms inherent in the field and is not
easy or illuminating reading.
Book Number 3: Extending EMDR is a book that professionals
and the general public could be interested in. Professional using EMDR will find
satisfaction in how EMDR has expanded from working with clients suffering from PTST to
other clinical diagnoses. The general public may find this book exciting as well as
challanging because more clinical situations are being treated with some excellent
results.
